Dr. Anna Gancheva: We treat dry eye in a revolutionary way – not with drops, but with light

We treat dry eye not with the commonly known eye drops, but with light.
The therapy is revolutionary, contactless, non-invasive, and painless.
This was explained by ophthalmologist Dr. Anna Gancheva from VISION Eye Hospital to “24 Chasa.”

Three sessions of 16 minutes each, spaced one week apart, are needed, and improvement is noticeable as early as the fifth or sixth day after the first procedure. Patients who suffer from dry, inflamed, burning, and red eyes begin to feel relief — the eye starts to moisturize properly.

The secretion of glands in the eyelids begins to respond, Dr. Gancheva explained.

According to her, eye drops contain only the watery part of the tear, but not the oily component, which is produced by the glands. This is why eye drops are not very effective.

The device used performs photo-biostimulation, stimulating the parasympathetic nerves that control the glands. The procedures reduce inflammation of the skin and eyelids and improve both the quantity and quality of the tear film.
