Appointment Booking

When booking an appointment, it is important to inform us or indicate whether you have additional health insurance and the name of the insurance company.

*Important – some insurance companies require prior notification before your appointment. See below for information about the companies we work with and their requirements.

You can book an appointment for various types of initial examinations directly through our website. *For follow-up examinations or procedures, appointments must be scheduled by phone.

When planning your visit, you will receive accurate information about how long your consultation and any specialized tests will take.

With a Referral

Your general practitioner must issue a referral for a specialist eye exam. The referral is valid for 30 calendar days from the date of issue.

All referral-based consultations are performed at VISION Eye Clinic, located at 8 Victor Grigorovich St., Sofia.

With Health Insurance

You must be familiar with your insurer’s terms* and bring either a physical or electronic insurance card.

*The following insurers require you to contact them in advance to confirm your appointment:

Note: The insurer Saglasie requires advance confirmation from you if the consultation will be with a department head.

 

Appointments through insurance are available at both of our clinics.

Direct Payment

We accept payment in cash or by card.

 

Preparing for Your Visit

Please bring your ID card and the following, if you’ve had tests done at another clinic:

  • Outpatient sheet from another eye specialist
  • Hospital discharge summaries (epicrises)
  • Any available test results, including imaging or specialized diagnostics
  • Other relevant medical documents
  • Your prescription glasses, if you wear

When You Arrive

Hygiene is extremely important to us. Upon entering, please put on disposable shoe covers, available at the entrance.

You must check in at the reception desk with your ID and insurance card (if your visit is covered by insurance).

A medical resident or nurse will escort you to your doctor and perform the preliminary tests required for your consultation.

Consultation and Diagnostics

During the consultation, if additional tests are necessary, your doctor will order them immediately (with additional payment).

You will be accompanied by a specialist to conduct the tests, then return to your doctor to review the results and discuss next steps.

If surgery is needed, you will be fully informed about:

  • The nature of the procedure
  • How it will be performed
  • Post-operative recovery

You will be offered a surgical team and will choose a date and time for the procedure.

Upon Discharge

You will receive written instructions for at-home post-operative care, along with scheduled times for mandatory follow-up appointments.
