Retinal Laser Therapy

The most advanced lasers treat the main retinal diseases with impeccable precision

Retinal laser therapy (laser photocoagulation) is a modern and minimally invasive method used to treat conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, vascular changes, retinal tears or detachment, and macular oedema.

Laser therapy is applied to improve vision or prevent complications, as well as to slow the progression of diseases that may lead to vision loss or blindness. Laser procedures carry a much lower risk of infection. The surgeon has greater control and can work with higher precision when using a laser. Recovery time is short.

VISION is equipped with the most advanced laser technology in the country.

The Procedure

Laser therapy is performed on an outpatient basis, under local anaesthesia (eye drops), without pain and without the need for a hospital stay. The goal is to preserve existing vision and prevent further deterioration.

At VISION, we use the most advanced multispot laser, EasyRet by the French company Quantel Medical. This “yellow” laser works ten times faster than a standard laser and is much gentler on the retina, as it is absorbed only by the diseased tissues without damaging the healthy ones. It is used to treat vascular diseases, retinal oedema, degenerative conditions and microtears. The effect of the procedure develops gradually — between 6 and 8 weeks after the therapy.
