Vitreoretinal Surgery

Post-Procedure Care

After the operation, the eye must remain closed until the first follow-up examination.

For several days after the procedure, you should avoid reading books, watching television, and driving.

Physical exercise is also not recommended.

Your eyes should not be washed with water for one week. Your hair and body should be washed separately to prevent water from entering your eyes.

During surgery involving a gas tamponade

след_витректомия

During surgery involving a gas tamponade, the head must be kept in a face-down position for a certain period of time, usually for several days after the procedure, to ensure that the gas bubble remains in place and properly supports the retina.

Air travel is strictly prohibited until the gas is fully absorbed (typically 4–6 weeks), as changes in pressure may cause the gas bubble to expand.
